Petrick Brown Car Accident – Obituary Augusta, 52-year-old died in Peach Orchard Road crash

Authorities in Augusta are investigating two separate pedestrian-related incidents that occurred Wednesday morning in Richmond County, including a fatal crash that claimed the life of 52-year-old Petrick Brown.

According to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office, Brown died after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot off Peach Orchard Road during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

Deputies responded to the 3100 block of Peach Orchard Road around 5:06 a.m. after receiving reports of an injured person. Upon arrival, investigators learned Brown had been hit by a vehicle that remained at the scene following the collision.

Authorities say preliminary findings indicate Brown was walking through a dimly lit parking lot while wearing dark clothing. Investigators reported that the vehicle involved was traveling north through the parking area in a designated and marked travel lane.

According to deputies, the driver told investigators he did not see Brown as the pedestrian walked in front of the vehicle.

Emergency responders transported Brown to Wellstar MCG, where he was later pronounced dead at 5:44 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.

Officials confirmed that an autopsy has been scheduled as the investigation into the fatal incident continues.

The crash has left family members and loved ones mourning the sudden loss of Brown, whose death adds to a tragic morning involving multiple pedestrian-related incidents across Richmond County.

In a separate investigation, deputies also responded to the 1800 block of Wylds Road around 8:23 a.m. after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. Authorities confirmed the Richmond County Traffic Division responded to the scene, though few details have been released regarding that incident.

Investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding both crashes.

Fatal pedestrian accidents remain a growing concern in many communities, especially during early morning hours when low visibility and lighting conditions can create dangerous situations for both drivers and pedestrians.

Authorities have not announced whether charges or citations will be filed in connection with the Peach Orchard Road crash as inquiries remain ongoing.
